Consistency

How many things have you started - with great intentions - and then never finished? If you’re human, a lot!

Forest and Cheryl TownsleyHow many of those ‘things’ were intended to make a significant change in your life? And then, months or years later, everything is still the same - the well intended change never happened. Instead, life happens and you find yourself right back where you started!

Diligence and consistency are the game changers. Over the years, I’ve watched Cheryl be diligent with her exercise, working every day to build a strong, fit body. For years, nothing seemed to work - the same exercises and diets that got results for others seemed to get her nothing but frustration.

What she knew she could control was ‘not quitting.’ This year the ‘suddenlies’ have been happening for her. At 57 years old she is getting results that she couldn’t get at 50 or 51, or 52, or 53 . . . or anytime! Why?
  • She never quit showing up - even when it seemed to make no difference.
  • She kept looking for new resources and trying new ideas.
  • She never gave up on her goal of having a fit body.
Today, she gets regular compliments on how great she looks and on everything she is able to do - things she has never done before!

Think back to a big goal or dream that you once had - one that you finally gave up on because it just seemed too hard or too out of reach - what if you had never given up on it? Where would you be today? How would your life be different?

Recently we’ve seen many examples of this ‘giving up’ with people who join the 90 Day Body by Vi Fitness Challenge. There is a reason they call it a 90 Day Challenge - it takes 90 days to create changes in the average body! And yet guess when most people give up ‘because it’s not working?’ That’s right, within the first 2-3 weeks! You don’t change eating habits or exercise habits over night and you certainly don’t change a body that’s taken your 30 or 40 or 50 years to create in just 2 weeks!

In our world of microwave food, miracle cure drugs, and super fast computers, people seem to expect results overnight! Real health and real fitness don’t work that way! Health and fitness are the result of creating healthy habits and lifestyles.

People often ask me, “What do we do when the 90 Day Challenge is over?” I respond, “We set the next 90 day goal!” Yes, we have to be consistent and diligent in creating what matters . . . every day for the rest of our lives, for our health, for our relationships, for our financial goals, for anything that truly matters!
