Question

Dear Lifestyle for Health,

I have been reading your book "Discovering Wholeness" and I am interested in the Bach Flower Therapy which you discuss.  After reading your chapter on Flower Essences I am wondering if this is an acceptable use for Christians.  I have read some controversial statements and was wondering if you could suggest any information that supports this practice from a Christian point of view.

Thanks and blessings - Ellen

LFH Response

Dear Ellen,
Flower essences are simply tinctures made from the flower portion of herbs.  Anyone that is comfortable with taking herbs (certainly they are Biblical) should have no problem with taking the flower portion of the herbs.

Flower essences  are designed to help the limbic system of the brain.  This is the emotional center for the brain.  They do not ‘heal’ emotions (really only God can do that), but they do help move someone from feeling as if he/she is in the midst of trauma into a more relaxed state. As a practitioner, I have found that the flower essences are invaluable in helping people with a variety of emotional stresses.  I hope you find this helpful.

Blessings - - -Dr. Cheryl

Ellen’s Response

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, I really appreciate it.  Your books "Food Smart" and "30 Minute Meals" along with the current one I am reading "Discovering Wholeness" have been life changing.  Thanking the Lord that I recently found your website.

Blessings - Ellen
