Imagine you just got your bloodwork done, and your magnesium scores are in the good range. That is great, right? Well, the scores may not truly reflect your magnesium levels.
Did you know that only 1% of your magnesium is in your blood? The other 99% is deep in your cells. When the body needs extra magnesium, it takes it from bones and muscles. Blood levels may look good, but you still suffer from low magnesium.
What are some of the symptoms that you might have from magnesium deficiency? What could you easily do to address it?
Some of the common symptoms of magnesium deficiency include:
- Muscle spasms
- Eye twitches
- Charley horses in the legs (can be in other locations)
- Anxiety
- Mood disorders
- Poor sleep
- Sugar cravings (also chocolate cravings)
- Migraines
- Pain, such as fibromyalgia
- Fatigue
- Abnormal heart rhythm
- Diabetes
- Due to gut inflammation, your capacity to assimilate magnesium is already compromised by up to 60-70%.
- Consuming grains, processed foods, and sugars
- Alcohol and many medications
- Unbalanced blood sugar/diabetes
- Water that has been softened
The average person needs 400 mg of magnesium each day. Although almonds and spinach are high in magnesium, they aren’t enough. Plus, many people don’t tolerate almonds or high-oxalate spinach.
If you have many of these symptoms, you should increase your dose of magnesium to 1,000 -1,500 mg per day over many months. If you have only a few symptoms, you might be okay with 400 mg per day.
Magnesium helps reduce calcification, prevent kidney stones, and help relax muscles. Adequate magnesium also helps with Vitamin D utilization. In addition, magnesium supports ATP production in the cells.
We need magnesium!
So, what should you take?
It is essential to know that not all forms of magnesium are created equal!
Your body only absorbs about 3-4% of magnesium oxide, which is not recommended. However, your body can absorb about 80% of magnesium glycinate, which does not create a laxative effect.
Our favorite magnesium glycinate is CellCore’s TriMag Complex. It contains magnesium bisglycinate chelate, magnesium taurate complex and magnesium malate complex, carbon technology from fulvic and humic acids (more cellular energy), and Vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 supports a healthy nervous and immune system and helps convert food into energy.
TriMag Complex is our best source and best value of magnesium glycinate. Check out all of its features. A bottle is enough for 2 months of maintenance dose and a month at higher therapeutic doses.
