The past several years have brought much loss and death to all of us. Navigating this season has not been easy.
Soul Ties:
Soul ties are a heart and soul connection to a person(s), place or thing.
Speaks to your identity/identification – how you see yourself.
They can be healthy or unhealthy, positive/negative, life giving or life draining.
Examples of Soul Ties (Common, but there can be others)
People:
- Spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend
- Family member
- Anyone with whom you have had sexual intimacy/abuse
- People in business, network marketing, sororities/fraternities
- People in ministry
- Mentors and leaders
Places:
- Childhood home or home lived in for long periods of time
- Favorite travel location
- High school, college, or education facilities
- City
- Location of Trauma / point of “failure” or loss
Thing:
- Food, disease, surgeries, trauma
- Holidays/Seasons
- House or neighborhood
- Vehicle
- Antiques or family heirlooms
- Inheritance
- Spirit: fear, lust, gluttony
How can you tell when it is unhealthy?
- When we can’t ‘get past’ an issue.
- When the mention of a name impacts us.
- Feeling competitive, fearful.
- We are ‘drawn’ to something beyond reasonable desire.
- We can’t find ‘neutral’.
It is critical to disconnect from soul ties after divorce, death, job trauma, relationship trauma or loss. Walk through the payer letting the Holy Spirit share what each connection is until silence and peace comes.
Soul Tie Prayer:
Father, I confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I ask You to help me break/disconnect from unhealthy attachments. I pray this entire process in the name of Yeshua /Jesus.
I break off every unholy attachment with ____________________ (Insert the name of what comes to mind. Ask if there is anything else?)
I now release from my spirit, soul, and body everything that does not belong to me. I release everything that was given to me or that I took on as a burden or identified with. (Allow the Lord to help you be specific – pain, guilt, shame, burdens, loss of value…)
I repent of those things I took or gave away that were not mine, and I ask you to please return everything, cleansed, to its proper place. (Again, be specific – forgive others, forgive yourself and receive His forgiveness.)
I now call back into my spirit, soul and body, everything that is mine, given to me by the Lord that I gave away, or was stolen from me. I ask that all be cleansed and re-integrated into me. I receive wholeness, in Jesus’ Name. (Allow the Lord to help you be specific – comfort, innocence, safety, childhood joy…)
Lord, please take the cut loose ends of these soul ties. I give them to you Lord and ask that You attach them to Yourself that I may draw my identity from You alone.
Father, who do say that I am? (Wait for His response – keep asking until He is finished sharing.)
In addition, you can use Matthew 18:18 (Amplified)
“I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whatever you bind [forbid, declare to be improper and unlawful] on earth shall have [already] been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose [permit, declare lawful] on earth shall have [already] been loosed in heaven.”
You can ‘loose’ off your spirit, soul, and body anything that doesn’t belong to you.
You can ‘loose’ into you the blessings of God (Deuteronomy 28).
Put on the whole armor every day (Ephesians 6).
I just ran across this on your website. This is so good. Prayers coming for me and I’m passing along to my daughter who is going through a terrible divorce. Thank you for such care and concern and publishing articles like this. They are so life-giving.
Thanks Lori – so glad it can be of help to you! Praying for you and your daughter to come through whole!
