We’re all taught that the path to success is setting big, amazing, almost impossible-to-achieve goals. Sadly, over the years, we’ve come to accept that setting goals does not ensure our success.
Did you know that for most people, goals fail? There is an EASY solution!
How is it possible that after all the books and training on goal setting, most of us fail to achieve our goals? Aren’t we always supposed to set big, impressive goals in January, on birthdays, or at key times? I’m going to share with you what I have learned that goes beyond goals and will allow you to create the success and productivity that you want, the EASY way, the way that will work for you!
Goals just set an outcome, and life isn’t an outcome. Life is a process, a journey. It’s actually our lifestyle, which is made up of daily habits, that produces the changes you want. I may have an important goal. You may have a great goal. However, what are your daily habits doing to create that result? When I ask clients that question, they typically say, “I don’t have time, I’m too busy, or making those changes is too hard”. It’s as if the goal suddenly doesn’t matter.
You end up reinforcing the idea that nothing ever really works for you – so why try? That’s the lie because you didn’t take the steps needed to create a habit that would help you create your new goal – you just ended up repeating old habits, and you got the same results you usually do. Let’s change how we look at habits – what if we make them so easy we couldn’t not do them? I call them baby steps. We want your brain to say, “That sounds easy; I’ll let her do that. That’s so easy she can’t mess it up!” This principle is based on the latest neuro/brain research that shows what we need to do to get our brain to work with us instead of against us. Your brain loves easy – it avoids hard! Successful change comes when we learn to work with our brain!
Taking those baby steps consistently over time creates habits that become part of your lifestyle. You’re moving toward your goal! Goal achievement results from small baby steps, taken daily, until you create a habit that contributes to your suddenly!
