Messy, Parasitic Emotions - Are they sucking the life out of you?
Imagine, for a moment, a large parasite living inside your body. You can feel it sucking the life out of you. You can feel it draining your energy. Your emotions are a mess! You want it out of your body immediately! And yet it just stays and continues eating away at your health, dreams, and passions.

Just as we treat for real parasites in our clinic, we also need to treat and deal with the emotional parasites that keep us stuck, looping, depressed, and overwhelmed. In this short video, I’ll give you my preferred, simple, and easy steps for stepping out of messy, parasitic emotions and back into a life of health, hope, and purpose. I know they work because I used them to turn around my life of hopelessness, depression, and suicide. Yes, I tell the whole story!

The same applies to messy emotions, negative thoughts, eating the wrong foods, and negative self-talk. These actions are no different from the physical parasite living inside you; each diminishes the abundant life God has for you.

Parasitic mindsets such as unforgiveness, anger, fear, shame, and anxiety, just like real parasites, drain our mental and physical resources. By recognizing and addressing these negative mindsets with easy baby steps, we free ourselves to create a healthy environment to thrive, grow, and improve our lives and relationships.

In his book, The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived (pp 208-209), Steven Scott teaches a powerful process for dealing with the seasons of life that didn’t go as expected and that had tragedies or disappointments in them.

In the moment, we aren’t able to see the positives; in fact, we may still be living in those pains and disappointments. But in time, we can choose to pause, look back, and get a different perspective (Steve calls it Treasure Hunting). What was it that we learned? What was good or useful from them (this doesn’t negate the tragedy or loss)? When we get neutral, we can begin to recognize how powerful and valuable the good is that comes out of those negative situations. This is not easy, but it is possible, and there are easy baby steps to get you there.

When Forest and I look back on our lives, we can focus on major health challenges, failed businesses, financial struggles, the various challenges we faced in network marketing, the pain of carrying other people’s burdens, and, most recently, the time lost due to a severe head injury. Or we can see and focus on the wisdom, amazing relationships, and many blessings that have come from the pain and tragedies. Perspective matters!

When we escape our parasitic emotions and messy thinking, we can begin to see what God wants to teach us from these experiences and seasons. As you listen to the video, be ready to take a few notes on what resonates with you as your next most easy step on your journey to a healthier life. Journaling is one of my favorite tools! I’ll even give you my two favorite nutritional supports for a healthier brain and more energy!
