We can assess Emotional/Mental by looking at:

  • Neuroplasticity (our brain’s ability to change its structure and function in response to new experiences, injuries, or environmental changes.)

  • Quality of Healthy Relationships
We can assess spirituality by looking at the following:
  • Ease of Forgiveness
  • Strength of our Faith
  • Living our Purpose

1. Clutter! Clutter in your home, garage, emotions, life, etc., is a burden that weighs you down and ages you, regardless of biological age! Clutter reflects unmade decisions as a lifestyle. That doesn’t serve you! Release it, let go, and move forward. Decide to move forward and only take with you what is useful in your new season!

2. Fear of _________! Whatever you fear comes upon you. It is a valuable life skill to learn to let go of Fear, give it to the Lord, and move forward. It also frees you of many stress hormones that can rapidly age you. Accept that every day is a gift. God has not given you a spirit of Fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. Go forth and operate in power, love, and a sound mind because that is your choice now!

3. Expectation that others will make you happy! Happiness or contentment is an inside job you can receive, not get. Choose to create an hour or day of happiness and contentment by acknowledging all you have to be thankful for. The more you appreciate what you have (Gratitude), the more you will see that you do have ~ and it isn’t based on what others do or don’t do! This can change your entire life perspective and aging process!

4. Comparing You to Others! Nothing drains your life vitality more than comparing yourself to others and feeling inadequate, jealous, or envious. Social media has amplified who and what we can compare ourselves to, and not in a healthy way. Be the best you can be in the moment. Look for ways to grow into the person God created you to be.

5. Regrets! The ‘woulda, coulda, shoulda’ games keep you stuck with a heavy backpack of shame that steals today and tomorrow from you ~ leaving you stuck in the past. That is very expensive. Learn to be present in this moment. Forgive yourself for mistakes and acknowledge that mistakes are how we learn. Acknowledge your wins, no matter how small, and look forward to the next ‘most useful’ step.

6. Toxic Relationships! Toxins drain our energy and become the feeding ground of pathogens and disease. Whether it is family, workplace, friends, or community, anyone who disrespects your ‘healthy boundaries’, drains your energy, or expects you to always do more for them might be toxic. It is ok to graciously set them aside for now (you can always pray for them), and acknowledge a valuable relationship is truly 2-sided. You don’t owe anyone your time ~ you can gift time as you know it is a wise investment.
