Your brain communicates with all of your body through nerves (via the nervous system – specifically the Vagus Nerve). Your brain and your gut are like best friends. They talk about all kinds of things, from practical and physical matters to emotional ones.
More information passes between your brain and gut than any other body system. There are more nerve cells in your gut than anywhere else in your body outside of your brain. So when the brain or gut is out of balance, or the Vagus Nerve is stressed, every aspect of health is impacted.
This connection impacts your hormones, immune system, nervous system, gut microbiome, and genetic expression – that’s a big deal!
What sets the stage for this brain/gut connection to falter?
- Being born by c-section
- Being fed formula instead of breast-fed
- Frequent use of antibiotics
- Physical and emotional stress
- Lowered immune function – frequently sick
- Consuming processed foods with preservatives and additives
You might look at that list and go – – that’s me! What do I do?
The good news is that there are many things you can do to support the brain, gut, and Vagus Nerve.
Here are just a few…
Vagus nerve reset
This simple little reset needs to be at the top of your daily routine to mitigate stress and support so much of your body. The simplest way to reset the Vague Nerve is to rub the indention behind your ear lobes. Some people prefer to rub the right side, some like to rub the left side, and some prefer both sides. Notice which one (or both) helps you relax; maybe yawn or take a deep breath. For more details, I’ve posted several videos on my YouTube channel teaching you all of my primary nervous system resets – all quick and easy – free and powerful tools that once you learn them, you can use them anywhere, anytime! Supporting the Nervous System
One of my favorite products for supporting the nervous system is CT Minerals. It contains carbon technology with fulvic and humic acids that help nourish the gut microbiome. The product also contains magnesium to enhance the mineral content, which daily stress depletes.
Probiotics/Prebiotics
The growth of good bacteria in the gut is critical to balancing the gut microbiome. The best probiotic I have found is CT-Biotic. This product provides 11 bacterial strains essential for gut health, detoxification, digestive function, and immunity (which starts in the gut).
Relaxation support
One of the simplest ways to relax the body is through the R&R pose. So easy and so relaxing! CLICK HERE for the video on how to do that pose. Your 15-minute investment give you the equivalent of 4 hours of sleep.
Diet
Cut out seed oils (canola and vegetable oil), cut out processed foods, and get as much of your food from organic, regenerative, and local sources as possible. In our EASY program during October, we will be in the kitchen working on food strategies to help
you with this process. If you aren’t in our EASY weekly mentoring program, it is easy to get started. It is only $1 for two weeks, then $20/month with no long-term commitment. CLICK HERE to get started.
When we fail to support the brain, gut, and Vagus Nerve . . . many things can happen.
Some of the challenges you might face include:
- Food allergies
- Elevated blood pressure
- Inflammation
- Skin issues
- Leaky gut
- Reflux and nausea
- Lightheadedness or dizziness
- Bowel issues (IBS, constipation, diarrhea)
- Anxiety and depression
- Non-cardiac chest pain
- Infant colic
- Chronic stress
- Chronic fatigue
- Chronic pain
- Obesity
Isn’t it time for YOU to connect your brain, gut, and Vagus Nerve?
Pick any one of the above strategies to get started!
Hello,
Just received your sparker and have been using it. I have a diagnosis of Parkinsons tremors. Is there a limit to the # of times that I can use the sparker to reset the vagus nerve? Do you have any other advice or tools that would help me with my tremors and also insomnia?
Sincerely,
Mark Wollin
Thanks for your question, Mark – I often reset my vagus nerve multiple times daily, especially on high-stress days. So, just monitor how you feel when you’re doing it and monitor your body’s response. I don’t think you can overdo it. You might also consider learning how to reset the rest of your cranial nerves (the vagus nerve is the most important), but the others can be helpful too. Here’s the link to that course – take a look at it, and if you’re interested, send me an email to info@lifestyleforhealth, and I’ll send you a coupon code for 50% off. Hope that helps.
