Lights. Sound. Movement everywhere. And one question that hit me harder than I expected: What if?
I was on a dance floor a month ago, of all places, when it happened. I stepped out — not knowing exactly what would happen, just willing to take the next step. I had no idea that single choice would impact not only me, but a woman I’ve known for years.
Let me back up.
In November 2022, one missed step and a hit to my head changed everything. My first words when I looked in the mirror? “Oh, that’s not good.” I erased those words immediately and chose to speak only healing words from that moment forward — because here’s what I’ve learned in 40 years as a naturopath: what we speak gives our brain instructions and direction, all the time.
I’m deeply grateful for the team who helped me recover about 50% of my life over the next three years: my physical therapist Brenda, CellCore’s BCATP for mitochondrial support, Neumi’s Neuro and PrimaSkin for brain support, OHS Support, Matt Bush and Kathy Mauck at Next Level Neuro, trauma work with Desarae Lisa, and the faithful prayers of my women’s group.
But thankful and whole aren’t the same thing.
The things I once loved, quietly disappeared. Riding in a car for more than ten minutes. Going to church or a concert. Being around more than five or six people. Dancing. Our daughter Anna saw it up close:
“Mom would still show up amazingly for clients, then crash. Her personal life got small and quiet. It meant a ‘new normal’ for our family.”
Suddenly, a paradigm shift . . . I had been resisting the very thing that would eventually help me recover the remaining 50%. I resisted Super Patches for 14 months because they didn’t fit my paradigm.
Resistance breeds “stuckness” — I know that now. It wasn’t until I understood the science behind neural homeostasis (balancing brain pathways) that something shifted. Six months later, three years and three months after my injury, ZEN and Assure were released by Super Patch — and everything changed!
I could ride in cars again. Eat in restaurants. Attend a concert. My brain came back to 100%, after 39 months of only having half my life back. (I walk through exactly what that shift looked like in the video below — it’s worth watching.)
Every challenge carries a seed of opportunity. When we stop treating the challenge as the enemy and start seeing it as the seed, our brain approaches it differently. That’s the threshold of transformation.
Which brings me back to that dance floor.
I stepped out that night still a little unsteady, still relearning what my body could handle — and I danced! That is exhilarating! Later, a friend saw the video from our Discover Call. She reached out in tears. She told me she hadn’t walked since her own stroke, years earlier, because fear had quietly taken that from her. Watching me take the next step gave her permission to imagine taking hers.
That’s the part I never want you to miss: every time one of us has a breakthrough, someone else’s life changes. So instead of asking “can I overcome this?” — try asking, “how many lives will be blessed because I showed up anyway?”
What have you been resisting because it doesn’t fit your paradigm? What’s one small step this week — a conversation, a question, a choice to speak healing words instead of fearful ones — that could open your own door of transformation?
