Have you ever done everything “right” — clean eating, daily movement, the right supplements — and still felt wired, tired, and stuck?

You are not imagining it. And it’s not a willpower problem.

Here’s what most people never get taught: your nervous system doesn’t only respond to food and movement. It responds to every word you think and speak. Every sentence you repeat to yourself becomes an instruction for your nervous system.  AND, your brain and nervous system run all of your health, determine which DNA gets switched on, and all of your performance!  Words matter!

Your nervous system treats your inner voice the same way it treats any perceived threat. It doesn’t distinguish between logic and repetition — it simply listens, and it believes what it hears with no filters.

Here’s where it gets personal: when your inner voice says, “I am failing,” “I am broken,” “Something is wrong with me,” your body prepares for danger that doesn’t actually exist in that moment. Muscles tighten. Breathing shortens. Immune defenses shift into survival mode. Your cortisol rises — not because of what you ate or how much you moved, but because of what you said to yourself, on repeat.

This is why some of you have followed every protocol we teach and still loop in stress, carry extra belly fat, can’t sleep, and have brain fog. The body believes the story before reality proves it true or false.

What did you notice the last time you caught yourself in a repeating thought? Was it “I always mess this up,” or “Nothing ever changes for me”? Pause there for a moment — because that sentence, repeated enough, becomes what your nervous system creates as truth and experience.

Here’s the good news: this works both directions. Change the sentence, and physiology follows.

  • I am safe.
  • I am healing.
  • I am connected

You don’t need to fully believe these yet. Belief isn’t the starting point — repetition is. Any statement that begins with “I am . . .” is an identity statement that runs your health in every way possible. The brain doesn’t rewire from believing harder; it rewires from hearing the same instruction enough times that it becomes the only logical conclusion left standing.

This is exactly why King Solomon wrote, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Proverbs 18:21). He wasn’t only talking about the words we speak to others — he was pointing to the ones we speak over ourselves.

Here’s an easy practice, not one more thing to force yourself into: choose three short, safe statements to say every morning, before the world gets a chance to speak first. This isn’t an affirmation or a ‘speak it and claim’ it statement. These statements are intentional instructions for your nervous system to feel safe.

Here are some of my favorites – play with ones that best encourage you.

  • I am safe.
  • I am healing.
  • I am connected

Try it for a week. What did you notice? Did your shoulders drop a little faster in traffic? Did you fall asleep with less looping at night? Your feedback.  Every ‘win’ you acknowledge lets the brain know this is important and to keep doing it.  Every win ignored tells the brain it didn’t matter. Your brain wants only the highest payoff activities running in valuable mental real estate. Notice and acknowledge the win, no matter how small!

Starting August 1, we are launching the Calming Cortisol program in our EASY Mentoring program. Calming Cortisol is more than 25 practical lessons in basic steps of understanding what cortisol is and isn’t, how to interrupt, and how to create results that can span every area of your health.  It uses a spirit-soul-body approach.

If you’ve been doing “all the right things” and still feel stuck, Calming Cortisol is probably the missing piece. It’s not more discipline you need. It’s a different conversation with yourself — and we’ll teach you how, one easy step at a time.
