Did you know that for every 1 pound you lose, you relieve 4 pounds of pressure on your knees and 6 pounds on your hips?
Global obesity rates are climbing at an alarming rate, with over 1 billion men and 1.11 billion women classified as overweight or obese as of 2021. China, India, and the U.S. continue to account for the largest share of the world’s overweight population.
Obesity is far more than a cosmetic concern. It’s a leading driver of metabolic disease, including Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and obesity-related cancers. It is also impacting our children at alarming rates.
You might be saying, “OK, Cheryl, I know I need to lose some weight! Can you help make it easy for me?”
Instead of a list of things you know you ‘should’ do, how about some easy tips on things to let go of to help with weight loss?
If you’re struggling with weight gain or poor metabolism, look beyond the usual advice of eating less and moving more. The obesity epidemic isn’t about willpower but understanding your biology. The problem is your cells are not producing energy efficiently, which drives fat storage, cravings, and fatigue.
The good news?
You can take back control by addressing the root causes of metabolic dysfunction. At the core of the obesity crisis are four primary cellular energy disruptors that are decimating your ability to burn energy efficiently.
Start by eliminating these four things and replace them with something better!
Eliminate Excess Linoleic Acid (Omega 6) and Seed Oils
The most harmful toxin in the modern diet, and the fat you need to minimize consumption of, is the omega-6 fat linoleic acid (LA). LA makes up 60% to 80% of omega-6 fats and is a primarily contributor to chronic disease. Seed oils are everywhere —restaurant food, processed snacks, salad dressings, and even “healthy” organic products. These oils, rich in LA, damage your mitochondria. If your mitochondria aren’t working correctly, your body struggles to burn fat efficiently.
OPTIONS:
- Replace canola and ALL vegetable oils with organic grass-fed butter, ghee, coconut oil (if tolerated), tallow, and/or olive oil.
- Cook at home as much as possible. Learn to read labels!
- Check out our food videos on our YouTube site.
Eliminate Estrogen and Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals
That’s a significant way of saying, ‘eliminate plastic’! This key is for women and men. Get rid of plastic storage containers and baggies and use glass. Or when traveling and you want the convenience of a plastic bag, wrap the food in unbleached wax paper and then put it into a baggy.
In addition, reduce exposure to synthetic estrogen by exploring options for hormone replacement therapy and oral birth control.
OPTIONS:
- Use stainless steel or glass water bottles.
- Consider hormone-balancing support when struggling with hot flashes.
- S-TRO by CellCore is our favorite supplement for addressing dirty estrogen and testosterone (The usual dose is 1-2/day).
- Pesticides and herbicides on our fruits and vegetables also cause dirty estrogen. Try to eat organic fruits and vegetables!
Eliminate as much EMF exposure as possible
EMFs are highest from Wi-Fi routers, cellphones, computers, airports, airplanes, electric cars, 5G towers, and other electric devices. EMFs disrupt mitochondrial function by increasing intracellular calcium levels, creating oxidative stress, slowing metabolism, and damaging cells over time.
OPTIONS:
- Keep your phone in airplane mode, especially at night and away from your body.
- Avoid Bluetooth devices.
- Spend time outside being grounded.
- Removing EMFs completely in our technologically advanced world is impossible. So, we recommend an EMF protector. Check out the Aires Tech device and receive 25% off by using the code cheryltownsley at checkout.
Ready to start exercising? Let’s make it EASY!
Change the word exercise to move . . . simply start moving more! The human body is designed to walk as its primary activity. Walking is a powerful “exercise” that impacts your entire body. We won’t go into detail here, I’ll keep it simple . . . go outside and start walking. Having a good pair of shoes will be helpful. We like the shoes by FluxFootwear.com and by AltraRunning.com. Forest recently met a man with significant health and weight problems. A year ago he weighed about 400 lbs. He made the decision to start walking everyday and tracking his steps – starting slow and building up as his body allowed. The result? He lost 100 lbs. in one year! How far did he end up walking? 1,600 miles – one step and one day at a time! That’s a huge win!
Start. moving more and as you’re ready, we have a lot of easy, fun and affordable ways you can build strength, mobility and balance right in your own home – gym membership is not required. We teach on this skills regularly in our EASY Approach Coaching Program.
Eliminate as many Endotoxins (bad gut bacteria) as possible.
Your gut microbiome plays a massive role in your metabolic health. When your gut is imbalanced, this leads to sickness caused by bacteria producing endotoxins, which are harmful compounds that disrupt your body’s cell functions.
OPTIONS:
- If you have gut issues, reduce high-fiber foods. Consider low-glycemic fresh, organic fruit, fewer carbs, and more protein.
- In addition, we have found l.reuteri bacteria to be very helpful. You can find it in our CT Biotics or by making your own cultured l.reuteri yogurt for the best value (see video below!).
- Finally, parasites have a significant impact on gut health. In our EASY program, you can learn about completing the full moon parasite cleansing – the EASY Way!
Most importantly, don’t get overwhelmed! Pick the ‘EASIEST’ option to start and then add other steps, one at a time to your routine. Be kind to yourself and keep on taking the ‘next most useful step’!
